Slidin Fast,
Very nice rebuttal.
it seems the media heavily underline the dark side in everything.
yes there are really bad problems in the world and they need to be addressed.
but we also need to keep on the positive.
I gave up on trusting the news media for reporting the news well over 30 years ago when I personally knew the facts of an incident that involved the United States Park Police and a group of protesters. The news media took to the protesters side and said how wrong the officers were in their actions. Many officers were injured that day (personal friends) with objects these protesters claimed they just grabbed that were just laying around and that is plain bull crap. Yes and when it went to trial the protesters did some serious time behind bars, now did the news media come back and report this h... NO. No they are out there to make MONEY what makes money juicy news reporting.
As for advertising much prefer friends recommendations and personal research of the products.
freemason wilbur ross, a well-connected banking tycoon with strong ties to the rothschild family has just bid on some watchtower buildings in brooklyn... is the watchtower returning assets to their mother organization?.

Crabby,
Research Shriner's Hospital. The Masonic organizations LOVES children. The Shriner's raise large sums of money to support 23 hospitals. The parents pay ZERO. The Ladies of the Oriental Shrine raise large sums of money so the parents will not have to pay for a place to stay while their child is being treated.
That is only 2 of the Masonic organizations. OK let me tell you about a third Masonic organization that is wonderful it is made up of girls from the age of 10 to 20. They learn how to run meetings, run the organization, plan fundraisers, plan fun activities and their philanthropic is Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment. The state I am from these girls last year raised $25,000. This money is awarded to ANY child between birth and 20. We do not ask any questions regarding race or religion and they do not have to be affiliated with any of our organizations. Just need basis. A form filled out by parents and one filled out by the doctor. In the process the girls learn respect for their parents, other adults, God, their country, they must maintain good grades in schools, they learn wonderful social skills and they get to travel almost every weekend.
All adults who chaperone these girls are Certified Adult Volunteers and are required to go through 8 hours of annual training. We must also have a criminal and financial background check.
Another Masonic organization is the Order of the Eastern Star. This group is for Women but men may also join. The women do run the organization. The 2 years that I was Worthy Matron my focus for Charity work was for abused women 1 year and the 2nd year was shelters for homeless families. Both years we also raised money for scholarships for our youth organizations.
All Masonic organizations are there to raise money, it is just we havery fun doing it.
i really felt for you sisters i mean i really did.
when you showed up at the sunday meeting and found out the subject of the talk was going to be -and i can't quite remember the exact wording- but something to the effect of marriage and headship, or honoring and obeying your husband, or something like that how many of you wanted to jump right back in your car and head home.
i mean 45 straight minutes of beating down you poor ladies and telling you that you are not worthy of making one decision, taking the lead in anything, don't question the man be obedient and keep quiet.
Oh my, oh my, oh my Never a JW but the "Elder" said I was hoping you would see differently. OH, h..., NO!! It would be a cold day in h... before a man ordered me around.
a thought struck me.
as young children we were known for often asking the question "but why?
" to anything and everything that we were told and presented with in life.
None of us a JW but my kids loved that WHY word and I either found the answer. Finally they got to the age "research it".
But in the parting email from the "Elder" he said you research Everything and Fight Everything. You do not take anyone's word on any topic.
this is a true story.
it's about a sister named henriette venema.
she was a very loyal jw.

Yes, this is sickening, we have even stopped our annual meeting to allow paramedics in to take care of one our "Sisters" or "Brothers" we actually LOVE each one of them and honestly are concerned for their wellbeing. The meeting CAN wait!! What pray tell is that important over the well being of a LOVED sister or brother?

Wannaexit,
You and I were typing at the same time. Never a JW, so these people call each other Brother/Sister but if they fall over sick in a meeting no one really notices? A couple of attendance will get them to the back of the Hall all others just carries on.
You know when the "Elder" kept telling me the way I read the Bible the organization you belong to falls under the Babylon blah blah I sure wish he would talk to me today, he most certainly would get the lecture of a lifetime. Because if this would occur in our Lodge room during a meeting, the meeting would be stopped our sister or brother would be tended to and NOT until 911 has left the premises would our meeting resume. This is ludicrous! ! They show NO compassion whatsoever for their fellow brothers and sisters NO wonder they can automatically SHUN people at the drop of the hat because they don't give a cxxp for the person sitting right next to them. Did I read or hear this was a loving organization BULL!!
Sorry rant over.

TimeBandit
I am so sorry for the loss of your friend.

He continued and it was his "WIFE".
OK, I was never a JW, besides all the threads on child abuse, wife abuse and shunning this has got to be about the most heartless thread, I have read.
No wonder the "Elder" continually told me over 5 years that I had the most caring sensitive and forgiving heart he had ever met. After reading some of these stories I am beginning to think these people do not even have hearts.
His WIFE really, someone should have gotten up there and smacked some sense into him. Was he not married in the name of God/Jehovah in sickness and health is he not to be by her side?
Are JW just stupid robots?
anyone see that there is a long letter on how to handle child abuse?.
I have a sever migraine or I would write more but I think what
LoisLane wrote should have been IN BOLD AND CAPITAL LETTERS.
can a parent slap or use a "rod of discipline" on their kids?
i know it's politically incorrect and perhaps illegal, but is it a personal decision based upon the scriptures or is it taboo these days?.
Oh those terrible two's. My kids were six years apart and when my daughter hit that two year mark her 6 year old brother towered over her. We just could not get her to stop biting. Tried everything but her favorite target was, at the perfect height for her petite size, her brother's stomach. Well one day he had ENOUGH saw her coming grab her arm and placed it right in the target area and she bit herself, she came crying to me. BINGO, like majic it worked she never bit again. Solved by a six year old.
